Nominations open for the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards 2008

Nominations for this year's Yorkshire Lawyer Awards are now open and competition from legal firms throughout the county is again expected to be fierce. The much-sought-after awards will culminate in a prestigious ceremony and dinner at Rudding House, Harrogate, on 25th September.

Now in their eighth year, the awards have become a premier event in the Yorkshire legal calendar, recognising outstanding legal talent in the county and offering professionals the chance to come together to network, socialise and celebrate.

As well as the coveted title of Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year, other categories include Law Firm Award (under and over 30 partners); Specialist Law Firm Award; Rising Star Award; Private Client Award; Corporate Finance Award; Real Estate Award; Dispute Resolution Award; and Enterprise Award. In addition, for the first time, a prestigious Presidents' Award will be presented by joint presidents, Peter McCormick and Jeremy Shulman, honouring legal excellence in Yorkshire. 'The awards have gone from strength to strength, with a record number of entries last year, culminating in a glittering awards ceremony attended by more than 300 of Yorkshire's finest legal professionals,' commented Jeremy Shulman of Shulmans Solicitors, chair of the judges and joint president of the awards. 'The aim of the awards is to recognise excellence throughout the Yorkshire legal community - from the biggest corporate firms to smaller regional firms and in-house lawyers, from senior partners to young achievers; the awards are open to everyone and everyone has the chance to shine.'

The awards, organised by Barker Brooks Media Ltd and supported by the Leeds Law Society, are being sponsored by the Wesleyan Group, Data Genetics; Search Flow; Intaforensics; and PSG.
