Barker Brooks

Back in one well bonded piece

tyre funWe're generally pretty cynical about corporate cultural stuff. Bonding? Teambuilding? Crossing a gap with planks, a rope and a rubber tyre? Come on, we're from Yorkshire, we don't go in for that kind of thing. The day at Camp Hill would make a change from the office, but we didn't have very high hopes.

Imagine our surprise, then, when we found that it was actually highly enjoyable. That it's quite a laugh trying to solve problems outside the kind of thing that crops up at work. That these people we work alongside every day are a surprisingly fun bunch when you stop and think about it. And that hurling the aptly-named Rage buggies round a track as quickly as possible is really, really great...

It was a sunny day, a beautiful country estate up near the Dales, a great team of organisers. Lots of hidden talents were revealed, from Fran's gymnastic abilities to Jonny's affinity with rubber tyres. Lucy T's inner boy racer made an appearance too.

We drove cars blindfolded. We made pulleys. We made a tower of boxes as high as a house. We bumped around in an old Army lorry. Mostly though we just laughed. What's not to like about that?

And orange squash hasn't tasted so good since we were kids.
